a is for...

This post is a little different from the bog standard ranting and raving I normally do- I decided to do my own personal list of stuff starting with all the letters of the alphabet!

Its all pretty much because of this wonderful gentleman and this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVB9Vvdn7Ro

All the things on this list have some importance to me, some good, some…not so good, but important nonetheless!
Some were rather difficult to think up things for though...

A      Art.

Art can be so many different things- but what makes it so special is that it’s unique for everyone. Personally I ADORE this…

…but I know there are people that would hate it!

B      Balloon.

On those alphabet learning charts at nursery it was always B for Balloon. Those were the days…

C      Comedy.

Who doesn’t like to laugh? Comedy is the one thing that can completely change my day- whether its seeing someone else make a complete fool of themselves perfectly seriously: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqhlQfXUk7w or me practically falling over with laughter from a joke I've already heard a million times before. Whether its my laughter or someone else’s, good comedy is worth its weight in gold.

D      Document 1.

As I said, not all the things in this list are positive, and there is nothing more depressing than being in a literary mood and sitting in front of a blank Microsoft Word document. As much as I love writing it can be so infuriating when nothing seems to inspire me! See here: http://confessionsofatallblondekid.blogspot.com/2011/06/most-ingeniuos-idea-for-blog-post-ever.html

E      Ella Fitzgerald.

F       Friends and Family.

These guys are pretty special. J As an only child, I absolutely LOVE the annual family summer holiday- whether it’s football in the sunshine in Wales or jumping in puddles in the torrential rain in France, its so lovely to have a house full of people!

And I guess my friends are ok too :P

G      Gangly.

I've always been rather gangly of limb, photos of me as a child are hilarious. I look like a bunch if twigs held together with sticky tape!

H       Hate.
Qa
A word I don’t like to use often, but when it comes to brussel sprouts and nails down a blackboard I think it’s perfectly justified!

I         Ice.

is pretty painful to fall on, but when used properly…

…it can be spectacular

J        Jokes.

Why did the chicken cross the road?
To get to th…actually I think you can do the rest…

K      Krispy Kreme.

Yummy.

L       Love.

What's life without it?  ♥

M    Music.

17 years old was, I was told, not a particularly common age for beginning to learn to play the piano, but a recent discovery and love of House MD and thus subsequently Mr. Hugh Laurie has inspired me to try me hand at this whole music shebang. I love this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MwO-AMIo74&feature=related

N      North.

I've always wanted to go up north to Scotland. Don’t know why. Don’t know when. But the bagpipes are calling me.

O     Oxygen.

This stuff is kinda essential to life, so I figured it deserved an appearance on this list...

P      Possessions.

I've heard people say that they could never live without various items from iPhones to mascara, but thinking about it- do we really mean it? If so, it seems we’re getting a tad materialistic as a society… what would it really be like to have nothing? At all?

Q     Quaker.

Not the Oatmeal company! Im one of these guys…
http://www.quaker.org.uk

R      Red.

One of my favourite colours.

*Hopes its not too blatently obvious that I couldn’t think of something good for this one…*

S       Sleep.

*yawn*

T      Theatre.

Wont lie- I am a bit of a theatre geek. From musicals to Greek tragedy, I do love a bit of drama. Even when I see something I think is terrible, its fascinating to delve into the 'what ifs' and 'hows' of why it went so wrong.
But then again, like Art, its something that divides people- I love that people can interpret a single moment in so many different ways, a look in an actors eyes I thought of as jealousy, someone else may simply call love.

U     Unique.

Something we all are. DNA proved.

V     Vacuum Cleaner.

I can see it in the corner of my room calling out to me that it needs to be used. Yeah, this ones a bit iffy I know… but its presence is felt.

W      Words.

You have to admit they're incredible things, the mechanics for the amazing way our language works. Just by changing a few letters, we can make nothing into anything.

X      X-Ray Fish.

When I was little and played alphabet games in the car, X-Ray Fish was the one and only word for X. Simply ‘X- Ray’ was far too conventional for our family, so we decided to add the ‘Fish’ on the end. Just to be different. It does exist though! http://oxforddictionaries.com/definition/X-ray+fish?region=us

Y      Yesterday.

Is in the past and something I believe should stay there. Don’t look back on it- it gets you nowhere.

Z       Zythum.

(A kind of ancient malt beverage; a liquor made from malt and wheat)
Because I don’t have anything special beginning with Z, I decided to resort to taking the last word in my edition of the OED. Standard.

Ta Da! 26 'things' from A to Z! I hope you enjoyed that- it was certainly very interesting to write!

Try it yourself!
